Remember this old woman whose picture was first published as a survivor of the Ibadan horror den? Sadly,she is missing again

For the family of Mrs Cecilia Obaikhena, it was joy turned sour as their matriarch, who was one of the inmates of the kidnappers’ den released last Saturday, has gone missing again.
When they got the news of the discovery of a kidnappers’ den in Ibadan and saw the picture of their long-lost mother and grandmother adorning the cover of the Sunday Tribune, they were elated. Pronto Victor and Vivian, son and granddaughter respectively, of Cecilia Obaikhena, who was one of the inmates freed from the den, rushed down to Ibadan from their Lagos base to take their matriarch back home.
They got to Ibadan on Tuesday and headed for Soka area where the den was discovered. They searched everywhere for their matriarch but she was no where to be found.

Amnesty International has revealed that Nigerian Army tacking the Boko Haram insurgency has killed over 1,500 people since January 2014 as against an earlier figure of about 1,000 .They say most of those killed were young men and unarmed freed detainees.

They say 600 people were killed on 14 March, after the attack on Giwa Barracks by Boko Haram gunmen, done to free their members. Other detainees were also freed, but most of them were later rounded up and killed by Nigerian soldiers.

“The scale of atrocities carried out by Boko Haram is truly shocking creating a climate of fear and insecurity. But this cannot be used to justify the brutality of the response that is clearly being meted out by the Nigerian security forces,”

Prince William and Kate release new portrait with Prince George

Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, released their latest family portrait late Saturday, just over a week ahead of Prince George's first trip abroad.

Ikorodu residents cry out over abandoned Lagbuses

Residents of Ikorodu in Lagos State, western Nigeria have called upon the state government, through its Ministry of Transportation headed by Mr. Kayode opeifa, to help them find a solution to the abandoned Lagbuses in their area.

Investigation revealed that no fewer that thirty buses belonging to the Lagos State ministry of transport have been abandoned on the beach road in Ikorodu.

What Actually Killed Abacha

It’s no secret that you always had your time with him in the evenings. Achacha’s last 24 hours before his death, how were they like? What actually killed Abacha?
Well, it is true that I always saw him in the evening. One thing I made sure was that I never took official matters to him. I never went there to gossip. As I said, we had been long time friends. Some times I would wait up till 11pm or 12 mid-night so that he would have finished with all those people who would normally take their problems to him. I think that day I just came back from Gusau and I was feeling tired and I thought I would take the evening off. But once I came in, I got a telephone call from the Villa that they were waiting for me there. I think it was the day (late) Yasser Arafat came to Nigeria and Abacha was to receive him. In fact, by the time we finished Abacha himself was very tired because he slept all through the evening on our way back from the airport.

The whereabouts of a commercial motorcyclist popularly called Okada rider, who blew the lid on the evil at the Ibadan forest of horror is still unknown. His name is Kazeem and it was he who sent distress text messages to friends and colleagues while being held captive at the forest. Unfortunately, he was not among the victims rescued by people and minions of law at the forest.

And seven days after the Saturday’s discovery of the evil forest, curious residents and colleagues of Kazeem said they would not give up until their missing colleague is rescued from the jaws of kidnappers. As at Tuesday, his colleagues claimed they still received test messages from him asking them to rescue him from the kidnappers’ den. Already, a search party has been launched for the Okada rider by his colleagues and relatives, who many believe could still be alive, in the forest with nine others.

Police Officer kills self, wife, six others in Ogun [See Photos]

It was a scary scene yesterday in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, as a Police Corporal, Sunkanmi Ogunbiyi, shot dead his wife, Corporal Oluwatosin Faremi, and six others.

Ogunbiyi critically injured three people before killing himself with own riffle.

Instead of returning his official AK – 47 riffle to the police armoury after a night shift, it was learnt that, he went home with it yesterday around 7:05am and shot his wife, who was about to leave for work.

The late Faremi was attached to Obantoko Divisional Police Headquarters.

Ogunbiyi spared his two children, who were dressed for school, and went to the front of their compound, where he shot a commercial motorcyclist simply identified as Kunle, who was there to pick up Ogunbiyi’s wife and children.

Taiwo Animashaun

Three Nigerian brothers were arrested for kidnapping and gang-raping a 15-year-old girl last December.

According to Chicago Sun-Times , Aziz Animashaun, 22, Isiaka Animashaun, 25, and Taiwo Animashaun, 26, were arrested Friday and are all charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and kidnapping for the attack that a prosecutor said happened around 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.

Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Hamelly said the teenager was taking care of her brother that night and went to take out the trash when a black SUV filled with five or six people pulled up.

Robber Confession: ‘My mother prepares charms for me, encouraged me to steal’

A 27-year-old man, suspected of being a car snatcher, made a very shocking admission to the police in Kaduna.

Babangida Ibrahim, who was dismissed from the army for using a fake certificate, is said to have stated that his mother encouraged him to go into car snatching.

He also added that it was she who prepared the charms for him and gave her blessing for him to “succeed” in his chosen venture.

Ibrahim who was paraded by the state Police Commissioner, Umar Shehu, alongside other suspects, said he had successfully snatched over 60 exotic cars which he normally sells at very cheap rates before his arrest.

“I was dismissed from the Nigeria Army because of the fake secondary school certificate I used and it was then that my mother said she was going to prepare a charm for me to use and become successful in whatever I want to do.

“I normally put the charm in a drink and once anyone drinks it, they fall asleep and I take the car away. Other times, I put it on my cloth and once I enter your car and you perceive it, you will fall asleep and I will take the vehicle from you,” he confessed, adding that he had been living very comfortable through the act of car snatching.

Chidi Lloyd discharged and acquitted of murder in Port Harcourt

Majority Leader of the Rivers House of Assembly, Mr. Chidi Lloyd has been discharged and acquitted by a High Court in Port Harcourt after been charged of attempted murder.

Mr Lloyd was alleged to have hit one Mr Michael Chinda on the head with a mace during a fight between supporters of Governor Ameachi and some legislators in 2013 and was arrested and charged for attempted murder.

While delivering the judgement, the judge said, there was nothing the court could do in the matter as the police was not willing to prosecute the case further, so he was discharged and acquitted.

Nigerian youths embark on protest at Fed Min. of Interior HQ

Some Nigerian youths this afternoon marched to the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Interior in Abuja where the man in the eye of the NIS Recruitment storm, Minister Abba Moro's office is. The youths said they were there to protest the death of some of the applicants of the recently conducted NIS employment test. They demanded to see Moro but they were not allowed in.

Members of Boko Haram today struck in a twin suicide attack around the Dalori Housing Estate in Maiduguri Borno State, killing 5 policemen, 3 civilians and wounding several others. The men were said to have rammed the Volkswagen Golf cars they came in into a police patrol van. The bomb they carried detonated, killing them, the police men, 3 people around the area and injuring several others.

Immediately after the blast, security operatives cordoned off the area to prevent further attacks.

Now a new report by The Nation which reveals that the police has discovered an abandoned ritual factory in an Ibadan forest seem to be validating their claims. See the report below:
