Xenophobia:FG reportedly suspends Permenent Sec Ministry of Foreign affairs

The Federal Government has reportedly suspended the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Danjuma Sheni, over the unauthorized recall of the Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa.


A highly placed government official in the Presidency told Vanguard that the president ordered the suspension of the Permanent Secretary Monday Morning and was directed to clarify why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for embarrassing the Nigerian government.

The source who did not want his name in print because he was not authorized to speak on the matter said the president was “livid with anger” when he read about the recall of the Nigerian Charge De Affairs who is also the head of mission without his authorization.Nigeria presently does not have an ambassador in South Africa.

RIP! Condemned drug traffickers finally executed in Indonesia

According to breaking news reports condemned convicts including four Nigerians have been taken from their prison cells to the execution site on Nusakambangan..

According to the UK Guardian, Indonesian television is also reporting that the executions of eight prisoners – all men – have taken place, but that the Filipina woman, Mary Jane Veloso, was spared at the last minute, after a woman accused of tricking her into carrying drugs turned herself into police in the Philippines on Tuesday.

There are reports that the executions took place at around 00.25 local time.At nearby Cilacap port, anti-death penalty protesters began playing the song Hallelujah.

200 girls ,93 women rescued from Sambisa forest -Nigerian Army

In a daring raid carried out in Sambisa forest, Nigerian troops have rescued 200 girls and 93 women today.

Confirming the success of the operation, Director of Defence Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade said he could not confirm  if any of them was from Chibok until after thorough screening and proper investigation.

 “I can only confirm the rescued this afternoon of 200 girls and 93 women in different camps in the forest.

“We are yet to determine their origin as all the freed persons are now being screened and profiled. Please don’t misquote me on their origin. We will provide more details later.”

I was paid only N10,000- Cousin of school girl taken to Libya

Kelvin Okorie (aka Okito), the maternal cousin of the 15-year-old Ogun schoolgirl, Precious Nwaigwe, who was kidnapped and sold to Libya, has said he was paid N10,000 for the deal.

Okorie spoke on Tuesday at the Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, where he was paraded along with his friend, Ogbonna Njoku (aka John).

Njoku’s brother, Nzube Chukwu, who is based in Libya, was said to have taken custody of Precious before selling her to a pimp.

The pimp claimed she bought Precious for $6,000 and forced her to work for the money.
PUNCH Metro had reported that Precious returned to the country on Friday after she finished paying the money and an additional 500 dinars.

Lagos to provide Wi-Fi to all Lagos residents

The Lagos state government   has revealed plans to provide Wi-fi to every resident of the state..

According to Channels, the Permanent Secretary of the State’s ICT Ministry, Mrs Nike Animashaun said the first phase of the Wi-Fi connectivity would be deployed at parks located at different parts of the state.

She said the Wi-Fi would be deployed at parks in Oshodi, Alausa and Ajegunle.

More than 100 killed as Powerful Earthquake Rocks Nepal(Photos)

Bodies have been pulled from the rubble of collapsed buildings in Kathmandu after strong earthquake  hit Nepal. The quake measured 7.9 and struck an area between the capital Kathmandu and the city of Pokhara,the US Geological Survey said.

The tremors were felt as far away as the Indian capital Delhi and other cities in northern India, which borders Nepal.It caused extensive damage with toppled walls and several buildings, including temples.. More than  a 100 bodies have been pulled out ,,BBC reports 
 A photojournalist, who is in Pokhara 50 miles west of where the quake struck, told Sky News:

“It was a pretty massive earthquake here, the strongest I’ve ever felt in my life. We’ve all gathered on a tennis court which is the only open space available to us close by. There is quite a lot of damage. The building I was in has quite a lot of cracks in it. There was a construction site right next to us and several of the new ways have fallen and there was an injury.”

Ijaw Leader Edwin Clark Collapsed After Jonathan's Defeat?

One man who became powerful and very influential overnight after ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo made his brother Goodluck Jonathan president is Ijaw leader, E.K. Clark. Stories have been flying that the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari against Jonathan hit him so hard that he collapsed.

NNPC Refunding $1.48bn After Claiming No Money Is Missing

 

The fear of General Buhari is sweeping across the corrupt institutions in Nigeria even before May 29.

Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, on Wednesday confirmed that the NNPC has started the process of refunding the $1.48bn unremitted fund into the Federation Account as recommended by an audit firm, PriceWaterHouse Coopers.

But before Buhari defeated Goodluck Jonathan, the same NNPC claimed that no money is missing.

PriceWaterHouse Coopers had in the report of its forensic audit report of the corporation recommended that the NNPC should refund the amount to the Federation Account.

Robber set ablaze while trying to rape housewife in Abia

If You've Looted Nigeria's Money You Must Return Our Money – Says Buhari

President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that his government will recover much of the monies looted from the treasuries of Nigeria with an initiative he will put in place.

Buhari said by the time his government's anti-corruption programme is unveiled, those who stole blindly from the government coffers would cough out every money that have stolen.

He insisted that, 'Stealing is now corruption and nobody will be allowed to go free with our money'.

Buhari made this known in Daura recently when responding to entreaties from supporters of the APC who urged him to keep to his promises to Nigerians and not take the war against corruption with levity.

He is set will put in place a committee to probe the monies generated by the Nigerian government in the past few years and determining how much had been misappropriated within the period.

Ex Green Eagles star, Peter Anieke, passes on

Former Stationary stores and Green Eagles player, Peter Anieke has died. He died April 20th after a prolonged battle with acute rheumatism and arthritis. He was 68 years old.

Peter, known for his great defence skills and goal scoring, started his football career in 1967, playing for local football leagues before moving into the National team in '70s where he played for the National team. He was nicknamed ‘Eusebio of Africa’ for the countless number of goals he scored while he played professional football.

 He is survived by a wife and 6 children. May his soul rest in peace Amen

FULL DETAILS: Why Jonathan Sacked Police Boss Abba

To the surprise of many, the IG of police, Suleiman Abba, was fired by President Goodluck Jonathan for not interpreting the script to rig the March 28 and April 11 elections in favour of the defeated PDP.

The script, according to the PDP high command, was to use police authorities to coerce INEC officials to rig the vote and return Jonathan as President in the March 28 election.

LEADERSHIP learnt that President Jonathan was miffed by Abba’s inability to deliver on the order.

Abba was said to have been part of the PLAN at the initial stage but backed out of the wicked deal at the last minute, by ensuring that police personnel deployed for election duties showed a high degree of impartiality and fair play for all the political parties.

Suspicions that police and the military were going to be used to distort and disrupt the electoral process were rife in the build-up to the general elections.
