If you look at
Puma's roster of sponsored footballers, you will notice some pretty big
names on the list. Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, Marco Reus, and Mario Balotelli can all be found among other important footballing talents. Also on that list is Chelsea's Cesc Fàbregas, who made the switch to Nike to Puma in 2011, not long after leaving Arsenal for Barcelona, and now the Blues star is set to get his own special edition boot to celebrate a stunning first half of the 2014/15 season.
Ahead of the New Year's Day
fixtures, Fàbregas lead the charts for attempted passes (1,563),
completed passes (1,367), assists (13), and chances created (61) while
covering the second-most ground in play (213.2 km, behind only Steven
N'Zonzi's 214.8 km), according to an Opta statistics roundup in the Guardian with the numbers adding up to show a very impressive few months.
Cesc's new boots are almost
entirely blue to match Chelsea's home kit and have already been handed
their debut during Chelsea's surprising 5-3 loss against Tottenham Hotspur
on New Year's Day at White Hart Lane. The boots feature a stark white
Puma formstrip on the outside of the boot that overlaps the player's
"C4FABREGAS" logo, which sits just under the ankle. The tongue features
white accents while the studs add another nice contrast with a vibrant
yellow color.
In similar fashion to the boot
that Puma handed Mario Balotelli earlier this year, Cesc's evoPOWERs
feature a half and half design with the blue color cutting sharply away
on the inside of the foot to an all white half for the instep with blue
graphic. The boot features a tonal pinstripe effect all around.
The Fàbregas evoPOWER is Puma's
second-to-last hurrah before the original evoPOWER is replaced by the
next generation of the silo in the coming months.
