Buhari has secured America's support to recover stolen Billions

President Muhammadu Buhari said Tuesday in Abuja that his administration has received firm assurances of cooperation from the United States and others on the recovery of funds stolen from Nigeria.

Speaking with members of Northern Traditional Rulers Council led by Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Abubakar, President Buhari said it was now up to Nigeria to provide the international community with the facts and figures needed to drive the recovery effort.

Buhari said, “In the next three months, our administration will be busy getting those facts and the figures to help us recover our stolen funds in foreign countries.”

Citing the report submitted by the Ahmed Joda-led transition committee, President Buhari said that several revenue-generating institutions in the country have been compromised leading to a weak economy.

APC to Saraki, Dogara: Accept Lawan, Gbajabiamila as leaders

The All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership wrote to the Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki and the speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, on Tuesday to convey the party’s approval of Senator Ahmed Lawan and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as majority leaders in the two chambers of the 8th National Assembly.

The APC NWC also approved Senator George Akume and five others as principal officers.

The APC leaders’ position was communicated to Saraki and Dogara by the national chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, in separate letters.

In the letters to Saraki and Dogara respectively, Oyegun asked them to take “necessary action”.

The letter to the Senate presidents reads, “Please find below for your necessary action names of principal officers approved by the party after excessive consultations for the 8th Senate as follow:

“Majority Leader: Senator Ahmed Lawan, PhD (North East); Chief Whip: Sen. Prof Sola Adeyeye (South West); Deputy Majority Leader: Sen. Dr George Akume (North Central); Deputy Chief Whip: Sen. Abu Ibrahim (North West).”

Police Deploy Highway Patrol Vehicles to Replace Roadblocks

The inspector general of police, IGP Solomon Arase has said that he has immediately deployed highway patrol vehicles to fill in the vacum that has been created with Monday’s presidential order for dismantling of military roadblocks on highways in the country.

Arase who made this known on Tuesday disclosed that in addition to over 300 patrol vehicles deployed to the roads, another 157 highway patrol vehicles are ready for deployment on the roads.

The police boss who submitted that the police would need the prompt collaboration of the public in order to have an upper hand over crimes and criminality, however, affirmed that the Nigerian military could still be called upon to assist in security whenever the need arises.

Buhari Must Pay Us For Pipeline Surveillance –– Asari-Dokubo

 

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari-Dokubo, has called on the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to pay contractors of the oil pipeline surveillance project across the country.

Asari-Dokubo, who is one of the former Niger Delta agitators awarded pipeline surveillance contract by the Goodluck Jonathan Government, told PUNCH that the three-month deal elapsed on June 15.

He said that the ex-minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke, did not sign for the payment of the pipeline surveillance contract before she left office.

Asari-Dokubo said President Buhari must pay him and other contractors their money if indeed he is committed to the rule of law.

“Diezani (Allison-Madueke) did not sign payment for the contract before she left. All across the six states (Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa) where the contract was awarded none of us were paid; none of the companies were paid. The Federal Government should do what is needful by paying the money they owe. The same mandate that was given to Buhari to become President was the same mandate that was given to us in a legal and binding contract.

The PDP Media Watchdog has described the recent revelations by the Code of Conduct Bureau that President Muhammadu Buhari's assets and that of his Vice cannot be made public due to some relevant federal laws that inhibits such publications as treasonable and treachery.

The group made this statements on Saturday June 20 during their weekly meetings in Abuja and called on President Buhari and Vice President Osibanjo to immediately make their assets public in order to give weight to the anti-corruption war of the APC administration.

"We are not surprised to hear that the Code of Conduct Bureau is now quoting a section of the Constitution to support the refusal of the APC to honour one of their promises to Nigerians during the campaigns to make assets of all public officers in their administration public in order to curtail corruption. This is unacceptable and we demand that the assets of Pa. Buhari and his Vice be made public without any further delay" the group said.

FG officially bans the sale & consumption of Ogogoro

Following several deaths in Ondo and Rivers states after the consumption of local gin known as Ogogoro,the Federal government has announced an official ban of the sale and consumption of the local gin.

The ban was announced today by the DG of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii .He also revealed that 38 persons died from consuming ogogoro in Rivers state recently.  All banned products will be confiscated and destroyed..

Don’t ban ogogoro, distillers plead with FG

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, had last week, announced the ban of local gin, popularly known as Ogogoro and conduct sensitization across the country, due to the death of more than 60 people who had consumed the local gin in Rivers and Ondo states.
Now producers of  Ogogoro, Okwagbe Distillers Union, Delta State, have appealed to the Federal Government not to ban the production of that brand of alcohol.

Reacting to NAFDAC’s resolution, Chairman of the union, Mr. Samuel Egedegbe, said that distilled gin does not kill, stating that"
“It is the Ogogoro produced from methanol that kills.” He said that their “distilled gin” is produced from palm wine derived from raffia palm or liquefied sugar mixed with yeast and well cooked before distilling the gin.”

Widow says pedicure killed her husband

A widow in suburban Chicago blames a nail salon for killing her husband in a pedicure-gone-wrong.

A lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court alleges that Darryl Carr suffered a grisly infection that led to the amputation of his left leg and, ultimately, his death.

Carr's family says the AZ Happy Nails salon in Sauk Village soaked his feet in a chemical solution and then in a hot wax solution, but it alleges that the solutions were contaminated and that his left foot was left soaking for too long.

Carr suffered "serious burns" to his leg, which then became infected, says the lawsuit. It faults the salon for lax safety and training procedures, and for failing to test Carr for possible allergic reactions or warn him of any risks.

He visited the salon in November 2013 and died this month June 2015, leaving his wife and two kids, ages 10 and 13. His widow is seeking at least $50,000 in damages from the salon, which hasn't responded publicly.

Ameachi To Get "Ordinary" Chairman of Amnesty From Buhari

 

After the risks Rotimi Amaechi went though for APC, if this is what he would get from the government of Muhammadu Buhari, then it's a let down. Rivers politicians who supported him are in trouble.

Information obtained from a credible but unverified source indicates that former Governor Amaechi may have been assigned to a position by the Buhari administration, and it is not any important post.

Specifically, the source indicates that the Buhari team consisting of largely northern elders tipped the person of Amaechi to fill the position of head of the Niger Delta Amnesty program.

It remains uncertain whether the Amaechi camp will ever accept such an offer. But reactions from Rivers State indicate that the Amaechi camp may reject the offer, seeing it as insulting and degrading.

The source indicates that the Buhari team has decided to fill their cabinet with loyalist to the ‘northern agenda’ and the Buhari agenda – rather than those who worked tirelessly for the victory.

Military Has Obeyed Buhari's Order, Moves Base To Maiduguri

A week after taking formal orders from President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigeria army headquarters on Monday commenced the process of moving its base to Maiduguri, for more effective tackling of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists.

An advance military team led by a two-star General has already arrived Maiduguri, Borno state capital, during the weekend. The team is to commence the establishment of a Military Command and Control Centre (MCCC) tagged operation Zaman Lafiya.

“In compliance with the Presidential pronouncement and the chief of army staff’s directive, a reconnaissance and advance team for the establishment of the Military Command and Control Centre for Operation Zaman Lafiya for fight against terrorism and insurgency has moved to Borno state.

“The team, which is led by a two-star General, has already commenced work in earnest and it is comprised of elements of the office of the Chief of Army Staff, all the relevant Army Headquarters Departments and other combat support components. The centre will serve as a forward command Base for the Chief of Army Staff and other Service Chiefs.

Ronaldo's 60 year old mum Dolares Aveiro was caught at the airport with €45K in excess of the legally required amount for travellers.The Spanish police forced her to hand over the €45,000 at the Madrid airport,after she tried to leave the country without declaring the cash.Spanish daily El Mundo claimed today.

CBN N8bn-Accused weeps as her children appear in court

One of the eight bankers standing trial for alleged fraudulent activities totalling N8 billion cried uncontrollably yesterday, as her three children came into the courtroom of the Federal High Court to greet her.

The suspect, who had been in detention at Agodi Prisons, Ibadan, since the case instituted against them by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, began last week, was still in tears, even after the children had left.
Among the relatives was a physically-challenged woman on a wheel chair, who kept praying for one Deji, one of the suspects, that the ‘good’ he had done and scores of people he had shown kindness would see him through the case.Another fair-complexioned woman wept uncontrollably, raining curses on those who let the cat of the bag, saying “Deji, God would consider all your good gestures and help you out.

“The ancestors of all of us you have shown kindness in various ways would make you go scot free.”

Madam Diezani Undergoing Cancer Treatment On Her Breast

The immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, is undergoing a new round of treatment for breast cancer, according to a family source knowledgeable about her condition.

The inside source disclosed that Mrs. Alison-Madueke is currently in a hospital in London where she started a fresh round of therapy on Friday. The treatment was described as a daily therapy that will last for one week.

Mrs. Alison-Madueke left Nigeria on May 23, 2015 on a British Airways flight. Then President-elect, Muhammad Buhari, was also on the same London-bound flight, raising speculations that the former minister might have hurriedly booked herself on the flight for the opportunity to talk to Mr. Buhari. However, a source on the flight told SaharaReporters that the then president-elect quietly but firmly discouraged all efforts by Mrs. Alison-Madueke to hold a conversation during the 6-hour flight.

The former Petroleum Minister has not returned to Nigeria since that trip, Sahara Reporters found.

This Nigerian Professor Has Found The Cure For HIV/AIDS

Despite doubts in some quarters about the authenticity of his claims, Professor Maduike Ezeibe of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, has insisted that his recent therapy for the dreaded HIV and AIDS is real and effective.

The discovery of the therapy, Ezeibe said, was a major scientific breakthrough in the search for a cure to the global pandemic.

He said after 19 years of hard work, he was able to discover the therapy and his research was eventually published in the British Journal of Medicine & Medical Research.

The Professor of Veterinary Medicine, who obtained his first degree in same discipline at the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1986, Masters in Ruminant Medicine, and doctorate degree in Canine Medicine all in UNN, said he moved to MOUAU on leave of absence.

Why President Buhari Has Not Moved Into Aso Rock

 

The head of President Muhammadu Buhari’s media team, Garba Shehu, on Sunday said Buhari had yet to move to the Presidential Villa, Abuja because his official residence was not ready for habitation.

Shehu, in an interview with Punch said workers were currently cleaning and refurbishing the President’s official residence. He said Buhari would not move in until that exercise was completed.
Shehu said, “As far as the President is concerned, the place (his official residence) is not ready yet. Workers are cleaning and refurbishing the place. Once the exercise is completed, the President will move in.”

Asked to be specific on how soon Buhari would move in, Shehu simply said it would not take long.

Meanwhile, personnel of the Presidential Villa are at a crossroads on the direction their work will take.
