Kogi State Governor Idris Wada Won His Polling Unit and Ward

Lokoja, Kogi State Nigeria, March 30, 2015.As the results of the last Saturday Presidential and National Assembly are being collated across the country, there has been different unofficial results flying around especially on social media and some Newspapers.

It is very important to set the record straight so as not to mislead the members of the public, the Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Ichalla Wada won his polling unit for the ruling party (PDP) with total number of votes with 308 votes as against the 163 for the opposition APC.

The ruling People’s Democratic Party also won the Governors ward -Odu 1 with total number of 1323 votes while APC polled 603 votes.

A reliable source from Kogiwho pleaded anonymity stated this while reacting to the rumours circulating in the media that the Governor lost his polling unit and ward to the opposition.

"I am telling you and this is the truth and nothing but the truth, the Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada won his polling unit and ward and also leading in Dekina Local Government and the Kogi East Senatorial District, the INEC result will vindicate my claims,” said the source.

Buhari Support Organization, BSO, has called for the arrest of the Director, Media and Publicity unit of the PDP presidential campaign organization, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode for announcing on Sunday that PDP was already leading in 23 states .During a press conference in Abuja yesterday they said.

“We strongly condemn in its entirety, the recent outburst and blatant misinformation of the general public by Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode that the PDP is already leading in 23 states of the federation.

This claim is a total breach of the electoral act and is designed to cause the breach of peace. Gen. Mohammadu Buhari had repeatedly emphasised to his supporters to maintain calmness in that face of provocation by the ruling party. This recent utter exhibition of lawlessness enmeshed in the typical character of impunity by PDP is unacceptable.

A Former minister of Niger Delta,Elder Godswill Orubebe disrupted the declarations today,accusing Jega of being biased and also slammed him for tribalism ....He insisted the Collation of results won't go on,accusing the INEC chairman of being partial ..He said the PDP's petitions of election rigging( Katsina, Kaduna and Jigawa)have not been attended to while those of the APC eg Rivers)are being investigated by INEC already ..

Jega was forced to respond to the allegations..

Three Peoples Democratic Party governors have lost their senatorial bid. The governors are Isa Yuguda (Bauchi); Gabriel Suswam (Benue) and Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu.

In Anambra State also, a former governor of the state, Chris Ngigie, who represents Anambra-Central, lost his seat to a woman. In Kogi State, the senator representing Kogi-West, Smart Adeyemi, lost to former House of Representatives member, Dino Melaye of the APC.

Senate President David Mark of the PDP won Benue South Senatorial district election, defeating Daniel Onje of the APC for his fifth term in the Senate.

Governors Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Jonah Jang (Plateau), Musa Kwankwaso (Kano) Theodore Orji (Abia) and Aliyu Wammako (Sokoto) also won their senatorial seats in their states.

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has described the presidential and National Assembly elections as the most vicious, unprincipled, vulgar and violent he had ever witnessed.

In an interview with The Guardian UK on Sunday, he was quoted as saying,

“We’re talking about a very positive response by the public in terms of determination to register and vote but, you know, this has been one of the most vicious, unprincipled, vulgar and violent exercises I have ever witnessed.I just hope we won’t go down as being the incorrigible giant of Africa.

“This one was like a no-holds-barred kind of election, especially, frankly, from the incumbency side. One shouldn’t be too surprised anyway given the kind of people who are manning the barricades for the incumbent candidate.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has dismissed claims of victory by the Peoples Democratic Party in 23 states as claimed by the Director of Media of the PDP presidential campaign organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode.

Fani-Kayode had on his official Twitter page on Sunday, claimed that, "As we speak now, we are winning in 23 states and we have 64 per cent while the APC is winning in 14 states and has 36 per cent.”

But Jega, while reacting to the claim, said nobody should take Fani-Kayode serious.

In a series of tweets on the official Twitter page of INEC, Jega also countered the claim. He urged Nigerians to “be wary of declaration from people who are clearly partisan.”

Jega said in the tweets, “I don’t know where the PDP spokesman got his source but we have not collated results in 23 states.”

The recent visit of First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan to Enugu has left a big scar on Nollywood. This is because the police in Enugu are currently looking for ways to settle the bitter feud that engulfed the artistes’ community in the state over how an alleged First Lady’s largesse would be shared among top actors who attended her rally.According to the Sun

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old pregnant woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death during a quarrel over who would emerge winner between the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidates, while voting was on-going , weekend, at Ejigbo area of the state.

Vanguard reports that ,the incident, which threw the densely populated area into disarray, occurred at about 12noon inside the couple’s one room apartment at 81 Military zone junction.

There were different accounts on how tragedy struck. A version of the account said the couple had divergent views on their choice of presidential candidates. While the husband was said to have decided to vote for the PDP, his wife, simply called Onyiyechi, reportedly chose to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC. An argument which degenerated into a fight over whose choice would hold sway reportedly ensued between them.

CHANGE IS SWEEPING THE LAND: Buhari Is Winning

Nigeria appears to be at the cusp of history with the presidential election indicating that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, is set to clinch a majority of the votes.

Incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan and candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) even lost at the polling unit inside the seat of power in Aso Villa, Abuja.

Many ministers, including the minister of education, Ibrahim Shekarau, FCT minister, Bala Mohammed, and the minister of state (II) for foreign affairs, posted dismal results in their home units. Many other high-profile PDP politicians lost their polling units to the APC...

At his polling unit in Giginyu Ward in Nassarawa local government area of Kano State, Shekarau, suffered a wide-margin defeat.

The former governor who ruled the state between 2003 and 2001 lost his unit to the APC candidate, Buhari, who scored 324 votes. The PDP polled just 17 votes. Giginyu ward is one of the largest units in Kano.

Seven ladies who went for night vigil for deliverance in a new generation church, located at 2nd Cemetery Road, Benin-City, were allegedly raped by armed bandits who stormed the church at about 4am on Thursday.
The robbers were said to have earlier raided a building near Ewuotubu community where they robbed some tenants living in four different flats in the compound. It was learnt that two persons, including a police officer, were shot dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries in the process.
What was supposed to be an all-night marathon prayer session , tagged ‘Koboko Night’, meant to cast out demons tormenting some members of the church, turned sour as the masked armed robbers, numbering six, shot sporadically, ordering the members to go back to the church shortly after they said the final prayers to depart the church.

The robbers had, on storming the church premises, rained bullets on the roof and ordered members to lie down. Consequently, they raped the women.

Barely two weeks after one Chibuike Edeh, a 26-year-old worker of Protea Hotel-Benin City, died mysteriously in the custody of the police, a trigger happy police Inspector, identified as Obaro, allegedly shot another man, 25-year-old Smart Ogah, over N40 at a check point along llushi/Ubiaja Road in Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State, last Monday.

In a petition addressed to the state Police Commissioner, Mr Samuel Adegbuyi, through his solicitor, Sheriff Okoh Esq., the victim, currently receiving treatment in an hospital, narrated how Obaro allegedly pumped bullets into his body after he handed over N40 to policemen at the check point.

The Inspector was said to be angry that the money was too small. The victim, who narrated his ordeal to Sunday Vanguard at the hospital, said,

“I was going to Uromi that evening when I met the police at the check point along llushi/Ubiaja Road. They stopped my motorcycle. They asked me for money and I gave them the N40 with me. One of them was collecting the money from me but the second police man said the money was not enough.Before I knew what was happening, he slapped me.

There has been shock and fear ,over a strange baby born at a maternity centre (name withheld) situated at Ifosan area of Ilesa, in Osun State.

Speaking with Saturday Tribune during the visit on Thursday, the proprietress, (she is called matron by her staff) said the woman who gave birth to this deformed baby was “about 25 years old and she has been without a child for three years.”

She explained that

“this woman lives in one of the farm settlements on the outskirt of Ilesa. She registered for antenatal service here. So, when she wanted to put to bed, her relatives rushed her here to deliver the baby.

“But we were shocked to the marrow when she eventually delivered the baby with two horns on the head after going into labour for some hours. By the time she was delivered of the baby, it was already dead and we had to separate it from the placenta.

UPDATE-President Jonathan and his wife finally left the polling Unit after the fourth card reader failed .On his way out, he said if he could endure, he pleads with all Nigerians to be patient and vote..He emphasized the need for the elections to be free and fair..

INEC confirmed he and the first lady were unable to be accredited .They are expected to return to the polling unit..

UPDATE-President Jonathan and wife returned to the polling unit and got accredited. They have returned to their country home where they intend to rest till the actually voting commences.

According to breaking new reports,a bomb blast has been reported at Polling Unit at WTC Primary school Enugu ...Two other bombs timed to explode later were also detonated ..Reports say the bombs were placed in a Honda(Above) ..As at now, no casualty has been recorded as bomb disposal experts are on ground..

Robbers raid church,beat members in Benin

Dare devil robbers raided a pentecostal church, Salvation Givers Church International, located at 13, Onaiwu Street, Off 2nd Cemetery road, in Benin, at about 4am, a few minutes after a night prayer session.

Punch reports that, the robbers were said to have shot sporadically, forcing the faithful back into the church, before dispossessing them of their valuable belongings.

A member of the church, who pleaded anonymity, said the robbers ordered the victims to lie down, claiming that the bandits might have raped some of the women and ladies in the process.

The source said many of the church members were beaten up by the robbers when they failed to identify the pastor to surrender the proceeds of the church.

2 killed as Boko Haram strikes Polling Units In Gombe

Two peoplehave been killed after Boko Haram attacked polling stations in Gombe,northeast Nigeria on Saturday..Residents and an election official told AFP,the attacks happened in the villages of Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state, which has been repeatedly targeted by the Islamists.
An election official, who requested anonymity, said:

“We could hear the gunmen shouting, ‘Didn’t we warn you about staying away from (the) election?'”

How Tinubu was embarrassed by a thug at polling unit

Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was embarrassed by a thug, Ise Aye, while Tinubu was doing his accreditation at polling unit 047 on Kaffi/Sunday Adigun Street, Alausa, Ikeja.

The thug, who had scars on his face and tattoos all over his body, shouted at the governor and accused him of neglecting some of the youths in the area.

While shouting in Yoruba, he said, “You abandoned us here. The leaders here did not give us money. I know what I have suffered in the hands of the PDP all because I refused to join them. We remained loyal to the APC because of your late mother (Iya Mogaji) that lived here.Anytime I come here looking for money, they refer me to Bourdillon in Ikoyi but no one allows me to enter your mansion.”

Tinubu, who felt insulted by the outburst, described Ise Aye as an untrained young man lacking in wisdom.

Former militant, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo has aired his displeasure after his PVC was rejected by the card reader at his polling unit at Bakana in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The ex militant said no body would leave the polling unit till everyone is accredited as the card reader was also unable to accredit other voters .
He said it was a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise his people..

Gbemi Saraki dumps Jonathan on Election Day, backs Buhari

Things are happening in this strong election. Senator Gbemisola Saraki who has been consistently speculated to have plans to defect from the PDP to the APC may have finally declared for APC and directed all her supporters to vote for Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential election on Saturday.

Gbemi Saraki who is the first daughter of 2nd Republic Senate Leader, Olusola Saraki, has been uncomfortable with PDP in recent times. Her brother, Bukola Saraki, is the leader of APC in Kwara.

It was gathered that she has addressed her supporters and asked them to vote for APC's Buhari.

One of her ardent followers who was at the briefing confirmed to Daily Trust that Senator Gbemi Saraki was quoted as asking them “to go out tomorrow (Saturday) with your broom and sweep your communities clean,”

APC drags Jonathan,Fayose,Obanikoro & others to ICC

The All Progressives Congress has asked the International Criminal Court in The Hague, to investigate President Goodluck Jonathan and eight others as regards an audio file which allegedly captured some Peoples Democratic Party’s leaders giving orders to a military officer on how to rig the June 21, 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State in their favour.

Punch reports that,apart from Jonathan, others named as accused persons in the petition are Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II, Musiliu Obanikoro; Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose; former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Iyiola Omisore; and Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh,
Others are Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah, the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Army’s 32nd Artillery Brigade Commander, Akure, Ondo State, Brig. Gen. Aliyu Momoh; a member of the Federal House of Representatives, Abdulkareem; and the Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Jelili Adesiyan.

On Thursday, political thugs attacked the convoy of Governor Rotimi Amaechi during a campaign rally at Obio Akpor, hometown of the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike.

The political thugs reportedly attacked Amaechi with stones and bottles before setting up bonfires to obstruct his movement out of town. As the governor’s convoy maneuvered their way out of the chaos, the thugs openly fired shots at the governor’s car.

For most of 2014, Marilyn Ogar, the spokesperson for Nigeria’s secret police, the State Security Service, SSS, cut out for herself a controversial portrait of a blunt security official who had no qualms issuing threats and attacking anyone or institution perceived to be critical of the government.

In the heat of the August 9 Osun State governorship election, won by the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ms. Ogar alleged links between the party and bomb attacks, and narrated how SSS officials rebuffed N14million offered as bribe by an unnamed party – although her description fit the APC.

“A director in charge of election duties (security) was offered N4 million for himself and N10 million,” Ms. Ogar, a deputy director in the service, said at a news conference. “It is because the money was declined, that is why the certain political party is having a running battle with the DSS.”

It gets to this moment, the moment when lies run their full course and ugly twisted tales are laid bare. It’s the moment of truth. Four years and 10 months after Goodluck Jonathan assumed office as president, it’s time for reckoning.

In Jonathan’s early days in office, I remember a conversation I had with someone very close to him, someone who had known him since his days as deputy governor in Bayelsa and who became very close to him when, as vice president, he had oversight of the Bureau for Public Enterprises which oversaw the privatisation process, including the independent power projects.

After one of his numerous meetings with Jonathan in those early days in 2010 following the death of President Umaru Yar’Adua, I teased my acquaintance that he had become part of an inner circle preparing Jonathan to stand election in 2011. He said he was sure Jonathan would run, but added that “the man vowed that even if he did – and he’ll do so very reluctantly – he will not stand again for election if the power situation in the country did not improve.”

On that, he said, the man was categorical.

More details have emerged regarding the final moments of the Germanwings crash..It has been revealed the captain of the Germanwings plane which crashed into the Alps tried to break down the cockpit door with an axe after his co-pilot locked him out.
28 year old Co-pilot Andreas Lubitz who deliberately flew the Airbus A320 into the side of a mountain was said to be depressed after being dumped by his girlfriend..

The cockpit flight recorder showed that the captain repeatedly knocked and tried to get back in as the plane went into its fatal descent, .

However, German newspaper Bild reported this morning that the captain, Patrick Sondenheimer, also tried using an axe to break down the cockpit's armoured door as the plane descended into the Alps.

Members of the Niger Delta People Salvation Front, NDPSF, led by their leader, Alhaji Dokubo-Asari, marched the streets of Warri, Delta State, causing unprecedented traffic in a show of strong solidarity and support for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan ahead of Saturday’s election.

The road walk saw thousands of youths expressing their determination to vote for Jonathan.

Speaking at the rally, Asari Dokubo stated that it shall be gun for gun, bullet for bullet, bomb for bomb should Buhari attempt to cause chaos after losing the election.

He warned that Buhari must never be allowed to get close to power as he is a disaster waiting to happen, adding, “He is a spent force with a stale mind incapable of leading a multi-complex Nigerian State.”

He said he was corrupt and immoral, while his wife had the guts to insult the women of the Niger Delta, especially the good women of Edo State by calling them prostitutes.

I Can Smell Some Good Luck on Buhari to Become President

On Saturday, the sun will rise from its 94 million-mile abode on Nigerians as they choose a path; and it will later set in the evening as they chart a course. Tomorrow, we will find out if sitting President Goodluck Jonathan will be the ambassador of choice leading us beyond these trying times, or he will be regarded as just another flaky, flicker and flutter in history, and one who deserves nothing but a cold bye-bye from Aso Rock. Tomorrow will not be another ordinary day in this country; it will be an extraordinary dawn.

Politicians have hounded us for support and votes. Lies were told, arms twisted, money spent, mean utterances made, people killed, blood spilled and tension is now at an all-time high. Truly, this election will not be about Goodluck Jonathan who four years ago promised us we would all soon be cat-walking in Eldorado where there is no pain and sorrow. It will not also be about his arch-challenger, Muhammadu Buhari, of the All Progressives Congress who is promising us that heaven will collide with the earth at a cloying intersection and we will all be happy- forever-after if he becomes president.

This election will be about Nigerians who were created by God and placed in a land filled with plenteous precious stones. It will be about a people who have sought for help since Independence from their leaders but have been besieged by bleeders and dealers who think they are leaders.

Muhammadu Buhari is not ready to bribe anybody with Dollars to vote for him, he is out to serve Nigerians and bring positive and very sincere development to the country as a true giant of Africa, and not to steal.

Buhari was said to have told a close associate that, any Nigerian who want Dollars should go to Jonathan but all Nigerians who want out country to be better for everybody should vote for Buhari.

One week to the day the first ballots would be cast, INEC put the total number of registered voters at 68,833,476. Out of this only 56,431,255 permanent voter cards (PVCs) had been collected. This represents 82% of total cards and is a high figure when compared with previous elections.
