military how political thugs operate with impunity in Rivers State,
wielding sophisticated arms in broad daylight. Posterity will judge.
On Thursday, political thugs attacked the convoy of Governor Rotimi Amaechi during a campaign rally at Obio Akpor, hometown of the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike.
The political thugs reportedly attacked Amaechi with stones and bottles before setting up bonfires to obstruct his movement out of town. As the governor’s convoy maneuvered their way out of the chaos, the thugs openly fired shots at the governor’s car.
Two young men associated with the APC were injured in the attack.
According to Sahara Reporters, a deadly combination of efforts between first lady, Patience Jonathan and Wike has Rivers State choked by its jugular. The duo has provided funding and weaponry to political thugs to unleash violence on APC in an attempt to forestall electoral victory for the opposition.
