Insurers pay out £67million(Hardship payments) to families of missing Malaysia Airlines pasengers

Insurers have paid out £67million for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet despite the mystery still surrounding the fate of the Boeing 777 airliner. Hardship payments have also been made to families affected by the disappearance of flight MH370. This consisted of a payout for the aircraft itself plus hardship payments to the families of the missing passengers.Hardship payments are made to families who have to take time off work or face other costs as a result of relatives going missing.

 Standard policies assume that any aircraft that has not landed or refuelled within 48 hours has been destroyed.AGCS, a specialist arm of German insurer Allianz, said last week it was making initial payments on the aircraft insurance policy
If it emerges that some or all of the 239 people on board have died, there will be further payments for life insurance. International rules specify that airlines are liable for payments of just over £105,000 per passenger as a minimum – more if the airline is guilty of negligence. It is understood that liability for the claims will be shared by as many as 20 different insurers.

According to Mailonline,Malaysia Airlines is covered by a local insurer, which passes on the vast bulk of the risk to Lloyd’s specialists and others in the London insurance market and further afield.

Girl vomits broken bottles, nails, money, pins [Photos and Video]

Ghana – Family members of a young woman are in shock over her predicament after she disappeared for a week in January this year, only to return and begin vomiting money, broken bottles, nails, an egg and pins in church.

19-year-old Rebecca Ankobea, who is currently living on the premises of the church, Building Faith Ministry International (BFMI), has so far vomited close to GH¢50 in GH¢5 and GH¢1 denominations, as well as coins in 50Gp and 20Gp denominations.

Our dear president,

We write this letter to you with great passion, and in a state of curiosity and concern. We understand your zeal as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to invest in the next generation of the country’s youths by presenting a budget that contains reasonable projects that are aimed at tackling the far-reaching malady of UNEMPLOYMENT in our beloved country, Nigeria.

But, it is so unfortunate that the unemployed graduates of Nigerian institutions of higher learning have no representatives at the ongoing National Conference. Having read the modalities of the National Conference and the components involved, we are convinced without prejudice or doubt, that our children would blame us if we fail to inform you, Mr. President, of the mockery of the committee as a result of misplaced priorities.

Mr. President Sir, the only common element which costs less, and can solve the myriad of problems faced by most Nigerians is EMPLOYMENT.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old security guard, Joy Amodu, for allegedly torturing her 10-year-old cousin, Foziya Danjuma for several hours till the little girl fell unconscious. All because Foziya peed on her bed on February 28, 2014.

According to the police, the suspect as punishment, used a spatula to beat the 10-year-old and inserted Aboniki balm (methyl salicylate ointment) inside her private parts and her eyes. The suspect also allegedly inflicted teeth bites all over the girl’s body. It was after the girl fainted during the beating that her aunt rushed her to a hospital in the Ajah area, but she was rejected. Amodu then took her niece to a military hospital on the Victoria Island, but the victim was referred to the Military Hospital, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi. It was at the military hospital that a non-governmental organisation, Hands that Care, took over the case and reported it to the police.

The suspect, crying profusely, said she only beat her niece on three occasions. That the victim was her uncle’s daughter and she would never attempt to kill her.

Recall that Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has set aside $800,000 (about N138.4 million) to sponsor 10 Nigerians in the entertainment industry to cheer the Super Eagles during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Army officer shoots worker dead at Dangote Cement Factory

Violence broke out today, Tuesday at Dangote Cement Factory in Gboko, Benue State. One of the worker was said to have stolen a spare tyre and was caught by the army. When his colleagues tried to get him off the hook, an angry soldier shot the young man and killed him instantly.

The incident has triggered a riot with shelling of gun fire. An eye witness said he saw two dead bodies and one seriously injured victim.

The Cement Factory is now locked down with staff are trapped inside the premises stranded.

It will be recalled that there was a similar incident last year that claimed thirteen lives and over one hundred trucks.

BUSTED: 7 Pregnant ladies caught in baby factory, Akwa Ibom State

A baby factory was yet again uncovered by the police in Akwa Ibom state. Seven pregnant ladies were arrested at the baby factory located at at NEPA line in Ikot-Ekpene Local Government Area of the state.

Mr. Etim dickson, the state Police Public Relations Officer on behalf of the commissioner of police, Umar Gwadabe, said the baby factory was busted following a tip-off that two women, Ima Thompson Akpan and Mma Nurse, were operating a baby factory where seven expectant mothers were camped.

These two operators are now at large as they escaped arrest. During interrogation, the pregnant women confessed going into the business because of the money involved.

They revealed that a male child is sold for N450,000 while a female child is sold for N350,000.

It was learnt that one of the suspects gave birth to a baby boy at the police station yesterday.

The suspects who have been identified as Sabo Rabo of Durr Katanga Village, Bitrus Yakubu of Dado Village and Mohammed Bamigboye of Durr Katanga Village will be charged to court.

The 32- year-old woman who is crying for help as she said her husband is not capable of footing her medical expenses not while narrated her terrible ordeal. “After attending a turbaning ceremony in Lukshi, a village in Dass Local Government, I started to head home to meet my family as there was nobody to cook for them. When I reached a particular area close to a bush, I saw three men looking at me as I approached them.

“One of them approached me and said that he wanted to made loveual intercourse with me and that he was willing to pay for it, but I objected because I am a married woman. When they saw that I was not willing to cooperate with them, they pushed me to the ground and dragged me inside the bush and molested me, one after the other.

NIS test tragedy: FG offers victims families automatic employment

President Jonathan this morning ordered three employment slots be left open for the families of those who died during the Saturday recruitment exercise conducted by the Nigerian Immigration Service.

The president also directed that immediate employment be offered to injured victims who are still receiving treatment in various hospitals across the nation.

Disclosing this after the Federal Executive Council meeting that held this morning, Minister of Information Labaran Maku said President Jonathan directed that one of the three beneficiaries must be female. Today's FEC meeting was devoted to the poorly conducted NIS recruitment exercise. Continue...

The President also ordered that the last ill-fated exercise be cancelled and set up a new panel which would conduct a fresh screening test for applicants. The Panel is to be headed by the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Deaconess Joan Ayo and would have as members, a rep from the Inspector General of Police as well as the Heads of Immigration, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, Nigerian Prison Service, State Security Service and the Federal Road Safety Commission.The House of Reps has also summoned the Interior Minister and the DG of NIS to appear before it to explain the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident at recruitment exercise on Saturday.

How Nigerian undergraduate was killed in Ghana over money

On February 19th, the body of a Nigerian student studying in Ghana was found. Godwin Awogbo (pictured above), a 300level student of Social Sciences at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana was killed by unknown person/s and his body dumped by the roadside. February 20 was no doubt one of the saddest days for the family of Mr Fred Awogbo. Their son, 18-year-old Godwin Awogbo, was brutally killed. His body had been found with some his internal organs gorged out, with his hands and legs tied.

Godwin Awogbo’s lifeless body was reportedly found on the school campus. For days, everyone seemed to be clueless about what could have prompted such a brutal death. While the thoughts of Godwin being a cultist came to the minds of many, his friends, however, were quick to assert that Godwin was a cool-headed person with no such connection.
