11 People, Five Masquerades Die in Anambra Truck Accident

At least more than 10 people and 5 masquerades lost their lives when a truck driver rammed into them as they were celebrating the new yam festival
 
Five masquerades celebrating the new yam festival and more than 10 other people were crushed to death on Sunday at Umuchu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State by a truck. 
 
According to eye-witness report, the incident happened around 7: 35 PM. The cause of the accident has been attributed to brake failure which made the driver lose control of the log wood filled truck. 
 
According to Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Mr. Ali Okechukwu said only 11 people lost their lives and about 21 others were injured. The injured are receiving treatment while those who died have been deposited at a hospital morgue in the area.
