Pretence is the order of the day. No man wants to tame the shrew or teach the inexperienced or make an honest woman out of a dishonest one so once marriage is desired, women package themselves in pseudo, ready-made, easy-to-use, highly desirable packages. After marriage, what you see is what you get!

A pervert named Nadeem Mehmood Quraishi of Staten Island, was taken into custody at Kennedy Airport on Monday after he was accused of sexually assaulting a sleeping woman inside a plane. 

 

According to court papers, the accused man admitted pouring lotion on the body, panties and private parts of the sleeping woman next to him on a flight from Dubai before massaging and playing with her private part.

 

The woman had fallen asleep after taking anti-anxiety medication to help her relax. She woke up and realized that lotion had been spread on her arms, chest, and up her legs and that the lotion she had placed in the pocket in front of her seat was missing.

 

Quraishi defended himself saying that he thought the passenger needed it, and that she actually enjoyed it because she didn't resist him. 

 

He was however charged with sexual contact without consent and released on $50,000 bail.

Wike Cries Out: I Didn't Send My Media Aide To Say There Is Judicial Gang-Up Against Me

Already the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, is kind of in the black book of the present Chief Justice of the Federation for trying to play politics with his office by visiting his office on two different occassions without invitation shortly after he was sworn in.

So, after the CJN warned politicians, especially Rivers State government agents, against making unguarded statements against the judiciary, the governor had no choice but to distance himself from his Media Assistant, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, who allegedly claimed that the Judiciary in Nigeria has ganged up against Wike.

Speaking at a meeting with Rivers state Stakeholders at the government house in Port Harcourt, Wike said he has trust in the judiciary and that he never sent any of his aides to affront the judiciary.

“These dark forces as represented by Caretaker Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, went to absurd lengths in their plot to stop Amaechi from becoming a Minister but Almighty God has used President Muhammadu Buhari and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to scatter their evil plans,”

The Lebanese Nigerian from Warri, Delta state who is the MD of Unitop Services recently reached the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest mountain.

 

Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, and rises approximately 4,877 metres (16,001 ft) from its base to 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) above sea level. The first recorded ascent to the summit of the mountain was by Hans Meyer and Ludwig Purtscheller in 1889.

 

Approximately 25,000 people attempt to summit Mount Kilimanjaro annually only about two-thirds are successful.

President Buhari Speaks on Ex Gov. Amaechi's Ministerial Screening

President Buhari has expressed happiness over the screening of ex-governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and other ministerial nominees.

 

Yesterday, the presidency, through the Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly matters, Senator Ita Enang, expressed joy that former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, was eventually screened by the Senate after three postponements due to petitions written against his nomination by concerned petitioners.

 

It would be recalled that a Port Harcourt-based organisation known as the Integrity Group had petitioned the Red Chamber, alleging cases of fraud to the tune of N70 billion against Amaechi, while he was in office.

 

The report of the petition, which was not considered by the Senate, angered the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators, who decided to boycott Amaechi’s screening exercise on the floor of the National Assembly last Thursday.

 

Briefing Senate correspondents over the screening, the presidential aide, said that there was nothing wrong in the senate’s screening process on Amaechi.

EXPOSED: Delta Chief Judge Infiltrates Tribunal Judges With N3b Bribe From Gov. Okowa

The Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Marshal Umukoro, has compromised at least two of the three members of the tribunal handling governorship, House of Assembly and National Assembly elections petitions in the state, a judicial source and a security agent have disclosed to Sahara Reporters.

According to one of the sources, Justice Umukoro invited all the tribunal judges handling election petitions in Delta State to be his weekend guests in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State.

Two of the three judges accepted the invitation but the chairman, Justice Nasiru Gunmi, refused...

Justice Umukoro then allegedly shared N3 billion provided by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa between the judges. It was unclear if the chairman of the tribunal accepted any share of the bribe.

Our source, a senior official in the Delta State judiciary, claimed that the compromised tribunal members agreed to deliver favorable judgments validating all elections in which candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were declared winners. In addition, the tribunal consented to uphold electoral victories of some PDP-leaning candidates who ran on the tickets of other parties.

Buhari Orders the Head of Service to Vacate Office Immediately

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the removal of the head of service of the federation, Danladi Kifasi with immediate effect. Kifasi has been directly to proceed on terminal leave. No replacement announced yet.

A letter signed by the SGF on behalf of President Buhari ordered Kifasi to proceed on terminal leave starting from today Tuesday. A replacement will be announced, most likely from the Southern part of Nigeria.

Buhari Speaks on Sharia Law Implementation in Nigeria...See His Stand

President Muhammadu Buhari was recently quizzed by an international media platform about his stand on sharia which he ardently supported before he became president.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said the country cannot practise certain prescribed punishment under the Islamic penal code.

According to him Nigerian law does not allow for “sharia punishments, such as stonings and amputations, adding: “I cannot change it. I haven’t been voted by [a] majority of Nigerians to change Nigerian constitution.”

Buhari spoke on wide-ranging issues in an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera English’s flagship current affairs show, ‘UpFront’.

Asked about his record as a military dictator in the mid-1980s, and the alleged human-rights abuses which occurred on his watch, Buhari said: “If there is any injustice that can be proved against me when I was there, I will gladly apologise.”

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has adopted report of the committee chaired by Ike Ekweremadu, which recommended that the north should produce the next president, according to The Cable.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party has endorsed the report as well. The PDP had mandated its post-election review committee to come up with ideas on how the party could reinvent itself after its dismal performance in the last general election.

Speaking at 67th NEC meeting of the PDP, the first since the general election, Uche Secondus, national chairman of the opposition party, said: “We have come to a critical juncture in the life of our dear party and the NWC under my leadership is determined to drive the process of re-invention that would ultimately return the party’s lost glory.

 

“Against this background, we have adopted the recommendations of the Ike Ekweremadu committee as a veritable road map for this process of rejuvenation and we call on all to give it their support.

The Senate has said petitions against the former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, would not stop his screening and confirmation for ministerial position.

The Senate spokesperson, Dino Melaye, said this on Thursday.

The Senate on Wednesday deferred the screening of Mr. Amaechi to Thursday, following the inability of its Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to submit report on the petition against the nominee.

A petition by the Peoples Democratic Party, senators from Rivers State had stalled his screening, earlier scheduled for Wednesday. Mr. Melaye however said the Senate would not consider the petition since its subject is a matter before a court. According to him, the Senate had a standing rule that matter before a court should not be examined.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, was involved in another drama on Thursday when he arrested an officer of the Federal Road Safety (FRSC) in Ikere Ekiti for his offence.

 

The Nation reports that the FRSC officer identified as Adeola Alabi was driving against traffic when the governor caught him.

Alabi who was trying to avoid potholes left the bad portion of the road for the other lane, driving opposite traffic in what is popularly called 'one way'.

Unfortunately for him, the governor was on his way to the flag off of dualization of the Ado-Ikere-Ondo state boundary road and commissioning of some projects in Ikere town as part of activities marking the first anniversary of his administration at that time.

Fayose was said to have personally arrested the road safety officer and ordered security operatives in his convoy to ensure he was apprehended.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, President Buhari says he would make a deal with armed group for the release of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls.

 

During a chat with Al Jazeera’s UpFront programme, President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his pledge to route out Boko Haram insurgents by the end of this year, but declared that he will not resign from office if the promise is not achieved as he would rather 'stay and fight it out.'

 

The president expressed his readiness to negotiate with the insurgents to secure the release of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls, but noted that "They have to prove to us that they are alive, they are well, and then we can negotiate with them. We said it and we meant it. If we are satisfied that the girls are alive," he added.

 

When asked if he would offer financial payments or release a prisoner to Boko Haram in return for the girls, he said; "It depends on the negotiations with the leadership of Boko Haram."

A military court in Abuja on Thursday, sentenced Brigadier General Enitan Ransome-Kuti, to six months in prison for offenses committed during the war against Boko Haram.  

 

The son of the late human rights activist, Beko Ransome Kuti, will be allegedly dismissed from the Army if the sentence pronounced on him is confirmed by the Nigerian Army.

 

General Kuti has been at the center of controversy relating to his conduct as an officer. He was accused of failing to perform his military duties during the fight against Boko Haram which may have resulted in the militants’ capture of Baga, the center of a multinational force.

 

Included in the charges against him is that he failed to account for the weapons and ammunitions under his supervision, rendering the army useless in the fight against Boko Haram.

 

During a long trial, the officer denied all the charges. His lawyer, Femi Falana, presented evidence to the court that the Nigerian army had simply failed to provide necessary equipment for the Brigadier General to perform his lawful duties.

11 People, Five Masquerades Die in Anambra Truck Accident

At least more than 10 people and 5 masquerades lost their lives when a truck driver rammed into them as they were celebrating the new yam festival

 

Five masquerades celebrating the new yam festival and more than 10 other people were crushed to death on Sunday at Umuchu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State by a truck. 

 

According to eye-witness report, the incident happened around 7: 35 PM. The cause of the accident has been attributed to brake failure which made the driver lose control of the log wood filled truck. 

 

According to Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Mr. Ali Okechukwu said only 11 people lost their lives and about 21 others were injured. The injured are receiving treatment while those who died have been deposited at a hospital morgue in the area.
