North Korea Cautions Nigeria Over Provocative Film 'The Interview'

The National Film and Video Censors Board said Monday that the North Korean Mission in Nigeria had made a formal complaint to it over the illegal distribution of a film which the mission regarded as provocative.

 

In a statement issued by the head of Corporate Affairs of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Mike Ekunno, said that the North Korean Mission in Nigeria had made a formal complaint to it over the illegal distribution of a film which the mission regarded as provocative.

The statement said that the North Korean mission viewed the movie as not only provocative but also targeted at instigating the assassination of the North Korean Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-un.

A 2014 American political satire film, "The Interview", directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg had generated controversy across the world for depicting the assassination of the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un.

According to the statement, the North Korean Ambassador in Nigeria, Jong Choi, expressed displeasure with the movie during a courtesy call to the NFVCB. He therefore pleaded with the NFVCB to initiate action to mop the movie out of the Nigerian market, while also cutting the supply source.

Nigerian Pilgrimage Officials Arrested & Imprisoned in Saudi Arabia - NAHCON

The coordinator of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) in Mecca has disclosed that some Nigerian pilgrimage officials were arrested and taken to prison by the Saudi authorities for trespass.

 

While paying a condolence visit to three Nigerian states that lost six pilgrims in the Mecca crane accident, the coordinator of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) in Mecca, Suleiman Usman, has disclosed that some Nigerian pilgrimage officials were arrested and taken to prison by the Saudi authorities for illegal trespass.

It can be recalled that on Friday, six Nigerian pilgrims including one male from Kaduna State, four females from Gombe State and one male from Katsina, died in the tragedy. The coordinator said the affected officials were medical personnel arrested for embarking on a trip outside Mecca without official permit.

"We are trying to secure the release of our medical team, who were arrested and taken to prison by Saudi security, while travelling from Jeddah in an ambulance".

Mr. Usman, who did not disclose how many officials were affected, and the states they represent, appealed to pilgrims to desist from traveling outside Mecca without official permit, at least until after Arafat.

The official driver for the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has been brazenly impersonating a Nigerian Police Force officer by wearing a full police uniform and with the knowledge of Governor Emmanuel. This highly criminal and fraudulent act has continued with impunity for a long time, according to sources.

Sources close to the Akwa Ibom State Governor told SaharaReporters that the driver, Mr. Bassey Edet Bassey, who hails from Cross Rivers State had worked with the Governor since he was a senior management staff with Zenith Bank Plc. On further checks, it was learned that his employer, Zenith Bank, usually detailed Mr. Bassey to serve the Governor whenever he visited Akwa Ibom State.

However, the nominees are yet to be give any confirmation on the supposed screening which may not be far-fetched from the fact that appointments of this nature are treated cautiously in the official circle.

 

Accordng to reports, DSS sources said the ministerial nominees concluded their screening last week Friday September 11th.

Ex Governor of Akwa Ibon State, Godswill Akpabio, has travelled out of Nigeria to the United Kingdom aboard a private jet on Tuesday for medical treatment after sustaining injuries in a car crash in Abuja on Monday.

The Senate Minority Leader who was initially treated at the National Hospital, Abuja, according to sources, says he preferred to seek medical help overseas than do so at a N30 billion hospital he opened shortly before leaving office in May.

In May 2015, during the unveiling of the facility in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, Akpabio had told Nigerians the hospital was of world-class specialist standard with ultra-modern medical facilities that would attract medical tourism to state.

He said the hospital was equipped with 640 city scanners, digital mammography, endoscopy surgery, highly sophisticated intensive care units and medical gas plants with fully automated laboratories.

The new GMD of NNPC, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, has reassured Nigerians that the Port Harcourt and the Okrika Jetty refineries would not be sold. He said that the corporation would commence the unbundling of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) into three different companies.

 

This was contained in a press statement signed by Ohi Alegbe, the corporation's Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division and made available to newsmen in Lagos. He said that joint venture partners with established track records of success in refining would be invited to support the running of the refineries in order to ensure efficiency.

 

According to him, efforts are in top gear to fix all the crude and petroleum products pipelines across the country.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reportedly destroyed some solar panels which were supposedly being used by Boko Haram to generate electricity. The panels were destroyed during an ongoing air operation against the sect in Sambisa Forest, a notorious terrorist stronghold.

 

This was disclosed on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, by NAF spokesperson, Dele Alonge.

 

“The most recent success was the attack on BHT [Boko Haram Terrorists] targets in Ngoshe and Pulka by the Alpha Jets providing Close Air Support to own ground forces,” Alonge said.

 

The Army also recently recovered major Borno town, Gamboru Ngala from the terrorists.

A conman 'Yahoo boi'' funded a playboy lifestyle by cheating pensioners out of their life savings. Godwin Nwaofor, 36, kept a 'suckers list' of potential victims to send bogus letters saying they had won the Australian Lottery.

The Nigerian national received around £1million from the scam and blew the money on luxury cars, gold jewellery and expensive champagne at top nightclubs in London. Nwaofor was a ‘willing and enthusiastic lieutenant’ to the mastermind of the con, another Nigerian, Frank Onyechonam, who was nicknamed ‘Fizzy’ for his love of vintage champagne.

Onyeachonam was jailed eight years last year, after he was exposed as the chief player in the scam. He drove a Maserati and fired bubbly corks across exclusive private members clubs as he lived a life of fantastic luxury on his victim’s life savings.

The scam started with a bogus letter to a vulnerable pensioner telling them they had won the Australian Lottery. The letters were sent by a ‘lottery agent’ targeting mainly American pensioners informing them they had won a life-changing prize and requesting a modest sum to release the funds.

A recent statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman will give Nigerians, especially those in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria who are mostly affected by the menace some sort of relief.

 

He stated during a news conference in Abuja on Thursday, 3rd of September that the recent offensive operations carried out by combined forces, had incapacitated the central command and leadership base of the insurgents.

 

He said the military offensive had left the terrorists with no formidable force. Usman said the objective of ending the reign of terror in the region in the shortest possible time, was not only feasible, but a reality that Nigerians would soon come to live with. He said troops involved in the operations have been directed to pursue the insurgents to their last known hideout in line with the general objective.

Driver Remanded in Prison For Touching Neighbour's Daughter's Breast

A 48-year-old driver's short moments of madness has sent him behind bars while he faces trial at the Ikeja Magistrates' court.

 

 

A  48-year-old driver, Okechukwu Okoli, who allegedly assaulted his neighbour’s daughter by touching her breast, was yesterday remanded in prison custody by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
 

Okoli, who resides at 100, Old Abeokuta Road, Agege area of Lagos was arraigned on a one -count charge of indecent treatment of a minor.

While testifying in court, the prosecutor, Sgt.Jimah Iseghede said the offence was committed on August 24, in the accused person’s apartment.
 

The prosecutor told the court that Okoli under the pretence of sending the victim, an 11-year-old girl on an errand, called her to his room and started undressing her, while handling her breast in the process.

“It was one of the neigbours who sighted the accused, that raised an alarm,” he said. According to Iseghede, the offence contravened
Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Mohammed Ahmed, a 34-year-old factory worker, on Wednesday confessed that he has raped his daughter 'only' 6 times.

 

Ahmed, who was paraded by officials of the Osun State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps said he started having sex with his 14-year-old daughter in April, 2015.

 

Ahmed said, “I have two wives. The first had left and she gave birth to three children. The second wife gave birth to two children before she died.

“This one is the first child of my first wife. I don’t know what came over me in April when I started having sex with my daughter. I had sex with her only six times since April 2015.”

 

The Head, Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the NSCDC, Mr. Wale Folarin, said the command was alerted to the man’s act by one of his neighbours.

A Church service was reportedly disrupted by four masquerades who flogged the pastors and the worshipers in Epinmi Akoko area of Ondo state.

The Christ Apostolic Church in Epinmi Akoko area of Ondo state was greeted with an unusual incident when masquerades numbering up to four stormed the church premises while a service was going on and descended on the church leadership as well as the congregation.

 

The members were mercilessly flogged by the assailants thereby injuring two of the church pastors according to the Vanguard.

 

The masquerades fled the scene after physically abusing the members of the church but one of them named Tunde Arohunmolase was nabbed. It was learnt that when the masquerades arrived the church premises they were challenged by some of the church workers.

But they reportedly ‎overpowered them and went straight for their target. While other worshipers fled leaving the pastors, their attackers reportedly had a field day dealing with them.

13 Army Generals Admit Loots, Make Bargain to Return N1trillion...Read Details

Reports have emerged that 13 retired military chiefs out of the 19 who are to be probed are willing to refund N1trillion to the federal government as part of the plea bargain arrangement.

 

The arms purchase probe panel that was set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to probe contracts executed during the administrations of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has kicked off with no less than 13 allegedly indicted retired generals opting for a plea bargain.

 

A highly placed defence source at the weekend told Nigerian Pilot Sunday that the retired generals numbering 13 out of the 19 that are to be quizzed by the panel have already approached some members of the panel for amicable settlement of the matter than appearing before the panel.

 

The security source further added that the 13 retired military chiefs are willing to refund N1 trillion to the federal government as part of the plea bargain arrangement.

 

The source added that the chairman of the probe panel is yet to take a decision on the proposal given to him by the affected indicted generals. Not fewer than 19 former military chiefs are to be quizzed by the panel.

The Imo State Command of the Civil Defence Corps has busted a syndicate that specialises in oil bunkering and adulteration of petroleum products. The house is located at Prefab area of Aladinma in Owerri.

 

Governor Rochas Okorocha commended the Corps for their diligence and called on economic saboteurs to cease forthwith.

The fake pastor was chased out of the church during the service.

 

The members of the church allegedly drove him out after being enraged by the news that he impregnated his housemaid.

It was learnt that the pastor, Barkuma Andrew, was stopped from leading the church seven months ago when the housemaid, who was also a member of the church, Grace, had complications after aborting the pregnancy. Andrew lives with his wife, children, wife’s cousin, Favour, and Grace in a three-bedroom flat on the church premises.

She made this known, alleging that the ban of the marriage has been sent to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja. According to her, she was legitimately married to Uzodimma and has consummated their union both in court and in the Catholic Church. The Senator had reportedly married this second wife on Saturday January 3rd 2015, in a secret traditional marriage at Owerri.

The management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), said in Abuja on Wednesday that it had attained new peak of megawatts of generated electricity.

 

A statement signed by the Managing Director,System/Market Operation of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN, Mr Dipak Sarma which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja has revealed that Nigeria had attained new peak of 4,810.7 megawatts of generated electricity.

The statement said this was achieved at 20.45 hours of Aug. 25 following a record set on Tuesday when 4748megawatt was generated. It said these successes were due to the joint contributions of the gas companies, generation companies, distribution companies and the TCN.

According to the statement, the Managing Director of TCN, Mr Paul Stefiszyn, said: “The Federal Government has been supportive in coordinating the activities of the sector across the value chain."

It stated that the sector now aimed at achieving 5,000 megawatts in a short time, adding that this would be an important milestone for the nation’s economy.

Police in Delta Bust Joint Where Female Teenagers Dance Naked

A joint for naked young female dancers have been uncovered in Asaba, Delta State.

 

A vigilante group in Asaba, Delta state, has uncovered a joint where teenage girls danced naked.

 

The operator of the joint has been nabbed.

 

The Punch reports that the joint hosted bizarre activities, including pornographic shows, which were held at weekends.

 Chukwudi Nnamdi, the vigilance group boss, said that the operator was arrested on August 27, and handed over to the police for interrogation.

 

During the investigation, the police found out that at the weekends the joint was filled to capacity with teenage girls who offered sex for money.

 Sources said that the girls, who came from neighbouring states, wooed men for sex in rooms provided for the purpose.

Shocking! Boko Haram Members Storm Lagos - Intelligence Report

The Department of State Security,DSS revealed on Sunday that members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect are rapidly moving to Lagos as the heat of counter-terrorism intensifies.

 

BBC reports that Lagos state is currently being infiltrated by members of the Boko Haram sect. The members are also present in Plateau, Gombe and Enugu states according to a statement made by the DSS on Sunday, 30th of August. This can be attributed to the intensified attacks on the terrorist group by the Federal Government forces. The state police also revealed that some of the sect’s commanders had been rounded up in Lagos and Enugu.

 

The statement by the DSS Acting Spokesman, Tony Opuiyo, goes thus:

“In line with the Department of State Services’ (DSS) re-strategised counter-terrorism measures to combat the menace of the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria, the service has continued to make significant breakthroughs in this direction.

“This followed the rounding-up of notable commanders and frontline members of the notorious group from different parts of the country.
